Nanjala came to the home when a classmate reported her story to the Great Mission Village’s founder, Geoffry Otora. Nanjala was living with her uncle who beat, raped, and impregnated her at age 13. The Great Mission Village took her in, provided mentoring and counseling, ensured her son was taken care of, and took the necessary steps to bring charges against her uncle. Nanjala’s son has been living with her grandma outside Nairobi. Now that he is 3 years old and able to be provided for at the home, he will move in to live with his mother. Both mother and son are excited to live together at the home.
It is likely due to her experiences that Nanjala has such a big heart and a strong drive to serve others. She is very dedicated to her classwork and is excelling in school. She wants to become a doctor so that she can help people.
